Chakras: An Introduction

Todd Lewis Alkebulan

Chakras are pools of energy located along the body. These energies flow throughout, and the effects can manifest into your life. Ancient cultures, such as the Indians and Buddhists, studied and understood how to interact with chakras and their influence upon the physical world.

The practice of studying chakras began in India between 1500 – 1000 B.C. Although there are infinite chakras, the seven primary ones are the most commonly discussed. They correlate with the seven colors of the visible light spectrum: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. Each chakra has its own set of properties that, if balanced, one will find stability and content. But if they are imbalanced, one will find deficits relating to characteristics associated with each chakra.

The first chakra, located around your lower pelvis is called the Root chakra. Having a balanced root chakra results in feeling stable, calm, and patient. An imbalance will result in feeling: overwhelmed by negativity, loss of drive motivation. Listening to specific frequencies can help in restoring chakras to their natural state. You can balance the Root by listening to binaural beats at 396 Hz.

The second chakra, located around your belly button is called the Sacral chakra. Having a balanced Sacral chakra results in feeling creative, sensual, and energetic. An imbalance will result in feeling judgmental, low libido, and tense. You can balance this chakra by listening to binaural beats at 417 Hz.

The third chakra, located around the top of your stomach is called the Solar Plexus chakra. Having a balanced Solar Plexus chakra results in confidence, self-acceptance, and unity. An imbalance will result in victim mentality, dominating, and an excessive competitive nature. You can balance this chakra by listening to binaural beats at 528 Hz.

The fourth chakra, located around your chest is called the Heart chakra. Having a balanced Heart chakra results in feeling love and acceptance. An imbalance will result in feeling: clingy or isolated, and wanting too much or no comfort at the expense of others and yourself. You can balance this chakra by listening to binaural beats at 639 Hz.

The fifth chakra, located in your neck is called the Throat chakra. Having a balanced Throat chakra results in self expression, truth & Alignment, and Listening. An imbalance will result in feeling: Shy, Micro-manage, and Lying. You can balance this chakra by listening to binaural beats at 741 Hz.

The sixth chakra, located right above in between your eyes and is called the Third Eye chakra. Having a balanced Third eye chakra results in feeling: Intuition, imagination, and clarity. An imbalance will result in feeling: Headaches, Brain fog, and Lack of inspiration. You can balance this chakra by listening to binaural beats at 852 Hz.

The seventh chakra, located on the top of your head called the Crown chakra. Having a balanced Crown eye chakra results in feeling: We recognize that we are whole beings having a human experience, we accept the challenges that are laid before us, and connect with spirit and know that death is not the end. An imbalance will result in feeling: Spiritual escapism, fatalism, and hopelessness. You can balance this chakra by listening to binaural beats at 963 Hz.

These chakras will constantly fluctuate between balanced and imbalanced states, so it is important to understand them and exercise them to keep the spirit as aligned as possible. Hopefully this surface level dive will be the stepping stone for exploring chakras further and using them to act upon self-improvement!
